After sandblasting process, primer is applied on pipe surface, which enables adhesiveness between surface and coating. Centrifugation method is used for inner side of the pipes and wrapping method is used for outer side of the pipes. Hot fiberglass is dipped in bitumen or coal-tar enamel and wrapped around the pipe.

While bitumen coated pipes are covered with lime, coal-tar coated pipes are wrapped with rock shield protective layer. Bitumen and Coal-tar Enamel coatings are generally preferred for coatings of potable water lines due to their low costs.
